SMASH 4 RULES

  • 2 stock, 6:00 minute timer (3 stock, 8:00 minute timer for Doubles).
  • All items set to OFF and item frequency set to NONE.
  • Custom Fighters set to OFF.
  • Uploads from 3ds are BANNED.

  • All sets are best of 3. Finals are best of 5.
  • Coaching is limited to 1 minute in between games.  Anything longer runs the risk of receiving warnings.  On a second warning, the player will take a loss.
  • Ties after the time limit are determined by stocks, then by percentage.
  • The Good Dave’s Stupid Rule: You cannot counterpick any stage you have won on in a set unless agreed upon by the opponent.
  • Bans are static throughout best-of-three sets but reset after every game in best-of-five sets.
  • In case of sudden death, the player with the lower percentage at time will be counted as the winner for that match.  If tied, both players will play out a 1 stock match on the same stage.
  • In Doubles, players may not choose character palette swaps that involve the color of the opponent’s team.
  • Stage Strike from Starters for the first match of the set in “1-2-1″ fashion:
    • First player strikes one stage.
    • Second player strikes two stages.
    • First player strikes one stage.

Controllers:

  • If you use a wireless controller that interrupts a set in any way what so ever, you will be disqualified on the spot.
  • Pro controllers are allowed as long as the battery is removed.  Players must use a charging cable during play, even in friendlys.

Starters:

Battlefield

Final Destination*

Smashville

Town and City

*Either player may request a move to an Omega stage if Final Destination is chosen. The Tournament Organizers recommend Palutena’s Temple, but any Omega can be played on if the decision is mutual.

After each match:

  1. Winner announces their two (2) stage bans.
  2. Loser chooses stage.
  3. Winner selects their character.
  4. Loser selects their character.

Mii legality:
Players may create Mii fighters before any set using system default Miis. Players should name the Mii following the four-digit code the chosen moves create on the Mii fighter creation screen. (For instance, a Mii Swordsman with Gale Strike, Chakram, Hero’s Spin and Blade Counter should be named 1331.)

AS ALWAYS, ASK YOUR T.O. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE PRESENT TO SETTLE ANY DISPUTES

WHAT THEY SAY GOES, EVEN IF A SPECIFIC SITUATION ISN’T DOCUMENTED
